Consignor Contract

CONSIGNMENTS ARE ACCEPTED BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

Consignors may bring a MAXIMUM OF 25 ITEMS for consideration.

Garments must be ON HANGERS, which we will return to you at the end of your appointment. You may try transporting in bags, but we will not accept any wrinkled items.

Garments must be in EXCELLENT CONDITION and READY TO WEAR. Check for pilling, spots, stains, broken zippers, missing buttons, and torn hems.

Be sure your items are clean, unwrinkled, and free of pet hair, lint, and odors. Any accepted items that are not ready to wear may be assessed a cleaning fee.

All items must be in season, in style, and no more than two years old (or vintage).

Prices are determined by our knowledgeable staff and are non-negotiable. Any item found to be damaged after initial intake will be discounted, donated to charity, or disposed of without further notice. A small buyer’s fee, paid by the purchaser, may be added to the price of each item and does not affect the percentage you receive.

THE CONSIGNMENT PERIOD IS 60 DAYS.
Consignors earn a percentage of the selling price of each item sold during the consignment period, excluding taxes and fees. Consignors earn 40% for items that sell for less than $100 and 50% for items that sell for $100 or more.

The Dress Code may reduce or discount the price of any consigned item at any time during the consignment period.

Consignors may retrieve unsold items prior to the end of the 60-day consignment period by contacting the store a minimum of 48 hours in advance to make a retrieval appointment. Consignors are responsible for retrieving such items from the sales floor and presenting them to staff for review.

At the end of the 60-day consignment period, unsold consigned items become the property of Dress Code and may be sold as such, donated to charity, or disposed of. Merchandise is left at the Consignor’s risk. The Dress Code is not responsible for loss by fire, water, theft, damage, or acts of nature of any items left for consignment.

ACCOUNT BALANCES ARE AVAILABLE AS STORE CREDIT OR BY CHECK.
Consignors may use their account balance as store credit. For consignors with account balances of $10 or more at the end of a given month, checks are written monthly on the 5th of the following month. Consignors may chose to have checks mailed to them for a fee of $2 per check or choose to pick up checks at the store with the presentation of a valid government-issued ID. Consignors who pick up checks must contact The Dress Code by phone or in person to find out if they have a check for any given month. We DO NOT contact you to notify you that you have a check. Checks not cashed within 120 days of issue expire.
